The Start of the Adventure

Today – Tuesday, June 22, 2021

We made it! We arrived, met Andrew and Emily Hershey (our Adventures in Missions Staff leaders) and the hosts- Greg and Brenda! We got to see the area of Bismarck, Go to a local African Church and meet Pastor Charles.

Pastor Charles has a huge heart and speaks with passion. It was way different than a normal church service and the team engaged in an incredible way. Many of the students said, “That was a blast” or “That is my favorite church” or “That was turned up to 11.” It was loud, it was powerful, it was also draining. We went to war in prayer and we came out stronger!

Today – Wednesday, June 23rd

“Today we woke up nice and early to a delicious breakfast and devotion time. The girls went to closet 701 where they helped organize, fold, distribute, and stock clothes for people in need. this organization has these clothes for people to come in and get for free as well as learn a little bit more about their mission there at closet 701.

The boys went to a local soup kitchen and helped to serve a meal and also talk and pray with the guests at the soup kitchen. when we were done working we came home for a quick debrief and also some rest time.

After dinner, we went to go play soccer at the soccer fields with the international community. There we met up with Pastor Charles and some of his friends and family. at the end of the day at the soccer field we told everyone about the free ice cream opportunity at a local ice cream shop called FOMO 10/40 Creamery tomorrow night. lots of people were very interested so we hope that we can also share Christ with him as well. we came back to the house and had a special speaker who came to talk to us about her missions in Haiti and also encouraged us to think about doing missions in the future. after she left we had a quick devotion and prayer time and talked a little bit more about the day. Then we finished the night with some games and fellowship.”

prayer requests

– guidance from God going into tomorrow
– that we would all have safe travels to our events
– that we can impact more people during the ice cream event
– that we would have boldness in the opportunities we have to share our faith.

Today (Thursday, June 24, 2021)

Today has been amazing! We started out the day waking up early, getting some breakfast and having devotions. We spent time in the word together and talking about the hardships of persecution being a follower of Christ. Hearing students open up about their experiences saddens me, however, we know that they are choosing to live their lives following Jesus among their peers.

We gathered our belongings and headed to a bowling ally where we taught kids who nearly knew English how to bowl. We had about 20 nations represented among the kids. They had big smiles and we so blessed to have the 1 on 1 mentorship that came from this group of students.

When we ended our time, multiply testimonies of joy were shared on the way back. One of the girls even got to share about Jesus with one of the kids. We also got the chance to invite them to the a local ice cream shop called FOMO 10/40 Creamery where they are serving free ice cream to the International community!

-Please pray for opportunities to share our faith tonight with boldness

-For the courage to step out to pray with people

-For our hearts to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and what He is doing here

-That the international community would feel love and accepted by us

-Pray for each of the students to grasp even a deeper intimacy with the Lord and that they would hear His voice even clearer
